Palmetto Heroes Program is Here!
Del-co Realty Group is EXCITED to let you know about a great new program from the South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SC State Housing) called Palmetto Heroes It actually has been around since March 2010, however many folks still are not aware of this great program. This is an enhancement to our regular mortgage lending program specifically for teachers, police officers (and correctional officers), firefighters and EMS personnel.
SC State Housing has $40 million dedicated to this program. Mortgage rates are 5.125% and they offer $7000 down payment assistance which may be forgivable. Qualified buyers may also receive the $8000 federal tax credit.

A similar $20 million program for teachers only was initiated in 2008. This program was depleted in six weeks and SC State Housing expects this one to go fast as well.
All funds from this program come from the sale of bonds issued by SC State Housing. No public funds, tax revenue or stimulus money is used in this program.
